Job overview

As the Retail Manager, you will play a critical role in driving the success of our store operations and sales performance. This position involves leading store teams, analyzing sales data, and implementing strategies to enhance customer experiences. You will optimize operational efficiency, ensure inventory accuracy, and achieve sales targets to support overall business growth.


 

Key Accountabilities

Business Management &Development

  • Monitor sales performance against the budget/targets and take necessary actions accordingly.
  • Ensure the application of retail excellence training across all stores (based on KPIs).
  • Develop and implement commercial action plans to grow the business, such as targeting specific clientele categories (e.g., locals/tourists), creating incentive programs, and addressing slow-moving products.
  • Monitor the local trading environment and trends, including competition, tourism, and consumer behavior.
  • Collaborate closely with the Finance Department to provide inputs related to sales forecasts, headcount requirements, and financial needs for budgeting and investment planning.
  • Negotiate with buyers in department stores and shopping malls to secure more attractive store locations.
  • Drive the brand's growth in Korea by identifying potential locations for new stores and conducting profitability and market potential analyses.

Team Management

  • Communicate vision, strategy, and clear direction to retail staff.
  • Structure the organization of retail activities and allocate responsibilities.
  • Work closely with the HR Department to ensure adequate staffing through recruitment, rotation, mobility, training, and development.
  • Motivate, drive, inform, and actively coordinate retail teams.
  • Monitor the performance of the sales team.
  • Collaborate with the Mystery Shopping and Training outsourcing firm to ensure proper training for sales staff and excellent customer service.

Store Network

  • Propose layout adjustments as needed to ensure commercial efficiency
  • Assist in managing existing store network projects, including expansion, renovation, relocation, and closure.
  • Participate in lease negotiations with landlords, including for flagship stores.
  • Provide regular updates on store layouts for each department store.

Operations

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the stores and resolve unresolved operational issues.
  • Uphold excellent standards and consistency in customer service.
  • Enforce company policies and procedures to ensure smooth operations.
  • Provide necessary resources and support to stores.
  • Control costs to ensure the optimum effectiveness of operations.
  • Plan and take necessary steps to maintain optimal stock levels and minimize inventory discrepancies.
  • Implement and support all security measures.
  • Investigate and report any occurrences outside normal events.
  • Work closely with the Merchandising Department to ensure the highest standards of merchandising are maintained at all times.
  • Keep senior management informed of issues, decisions, and procedural changes at the store level that significantly impact the business.
  • Actively contribute to the efficient coordination of Marketing, Merchandising, and Retail activities.

Local Brand Image

  • Actively promote the brand in the local market.
  • Propose and effectively implement local marketing and customer relations strategies to enhance the brand's image.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the business community and competitors.
  • Work closely with the Marketing & Communication Department to provide input and execute local marketing projects.
  • Stay informed about counterfeit activities in the market and provide regular feedback.



Qualifications
  • Over 10 years of experience in sales, brand operations, and management.
  • Preferred backgrounds in Retail, Duty-Free (DF), FMCG, or the Luxury industry.
  • Retail experience is essential.
  • Experience in people management, both internally and externally.
  • A 4-year University Degree or equivalent.
  • Proficient in English, both spoken and written.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office and experience with retail CRM/POS systems.
